Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering in their communities. It is run by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and takes place on the 1st to 7th of June every year.
BHT Sussex volunteers worked 2,630 hours of their time in the year 2022/2023, demonstrating how essential volunteers are to the delivery of many of our projects.
Celebrations of this achievement included a reception in Burgess Hill, hosted by Mayor Janice Henwood. Our Chief Executive, David Chaffey, and Daniel O’Connell, Head of HR and Learning & Development, were also in attendance, along with 7 of our volunteers.
The Mayor presented these volunteers with certificates and thanked them for their time. David Chaffey also extended his gratitude to all our volunteer:
May I thank you all for what you do in making the lives of BHT Sussex clients and tenants more fulfilling – thank you.”
We also marked Volunteers’ Week by sharing the work some of our volunteers have carried out in the past year on our social media, such as the programme of activities volunteers at First Base planned, and wellbeing sessions Archway volunteers put on. You can read more about this on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
If you have been inspired by Volunteers’ Week, we are looking for volunteers to help out at First Base. To apply and find out more, head to the volunteering section of our website.
