BHT Sussex, and Q Square Aparthotel Brighton, have announced a new fundraising initiative to support people who are marginalised and homeless in Brighton and Hove.
The initiative is centred around the simple theme of providing beds. While the hotel provides beds to its customers, BHT Sussex provides beds to many of its clients, or helps people to move on from rough sleeping to safe accommodation.
Q Square Aparthotel has installed a contactless donation device on its reception desk, encouraging its patrons to donate to BHT Sussex. The ‘tap to donate’ device makes giving easy, with no forms to fill in or bank details required. The donations collected will be used to provide vital services and support to people who are homeless in the city.
Jo Berry, Head of Business Development at BHT Sussex had this to say:
We are excited that Q Square Aparthotel have chosen to support BHT Sussex in this way. This is an example of how businesses and charities can work together to make a positive impact in their community.
The money raised through this fundraising initiative will be used to support our services, which are more in demand than ever. Last year saw a 26% rise in rough sleeping compared to the previous year nationally, and we are seeing this trend reflected locally with more people seeking help from First Base, our day centre for people sleeping rough in the city, and from our advice services.”
Ryan Bonner, General Manager of Q Square Aparthotel also commented:
We are proud to support BHT Sussex in their mission to combat homelessness,” said Ryan Bonner, General Manager of Q Square Aparthotel. We hope that our customers will have a great time exploring this vibrant city and feel motivated to give generously to help make a difference to the lives of those who are homeless in our community.”
The partnership between BHT Sussex and Q Square Aparthotel is the start of a new fundraising initiative, ‘A Bed for Every Head’, with the charity hoping more local hotels will follow suit and install donation devices at their premises.
