Starting this Thursday, 18 June at 2:30pm, and then at the same date and time every fortnight, The Choir with No Name is offering online singing sessions to all BHT staff, tenants and clients.
Our hour-long singing sessions are all about fun with no pressure; it doesn’t matter if you are a great singer or if you feel you can’t sing, it’s about having a laugh and enjoying yourself whatever you sound like!
What happens in an online singing session?
Each week Freya (the Brighton Choir With No Name Director) will teach a well-known pop song for everyone to sing along to. For most of the session everyone but the choir leader will be muted so you can enjoy singing along loudly without being nervous about what you sound like! The sessions will be co-hosted by BHT’s Involvement Officer, Alasdair Tenquist.
How do I join in?
The singing sessions take place online via Zoom. You can join in any of the following ways:
- Use a laptop, tablet or PC simply by clicking the link provided by BHT
- Download the Zoom app on your smart phone or laptop, then enter the meeting ID and password for the session, provided by BHT. You can choose if you want to use your device camera to join in, or if you prefer not to be seen you can keep your camera switched off. It is best if you can join the sessions with wireless internet access otherwise it will use a lot of data on your phone (less data will be used if you don’t use your camera)
- Call in in from your phone. You don’t need to have internet access BUT calling in will cost the same as an hour-long local call. To join the session via phone call please dial 0131 460 1196 and enter the meeting ID and password provided by BHT. You won’t be able to see anyone and they won’t see you (it’s just like a phone call), but you will be able to hear everything and sing along.
How do I get the access codes and more information?
To get the access codes and passwords to join these sessions please contact Alasdair Tenquist by emailing a.tenquist@bht.org.uk or phoning 07825 425084.
This video shows how you can access Zoom meetings on a smartphone. However, if you need any further help to join the sessions, you can also call Alasdair (or send a text and he will call you). He will do his best to guide you through it.
We hope that you can join us next Thursday 18th June!
