Leave a Legacy
Your legacy is an extraordinary opportunity to make a lasting difference and give something back to your community.
Whatever your age or circumstances, leaving a will ensures that your wishes, your loved ones and the causes you care about are provided for after you are gone.
We are extremely grateful to those who have left us a bequest, or have included a gift to us in their will. There are a number of ways to do this:
We work with Make a Will Online so that any supporter who wants to leave a gift in their will, no matter how big or small, can do so securely and in minutes. Every will made through this scheme is checked by a fully qualified solicitor and benefits from £2m professional indemnity insurance. Plus, you will benefit from free access to Capacity Vault - the best way to protect the wishes in your will online.
BHT Sussex and Make a Will Online are offering the first 10 wills for free. Following this there will be a £60 fee. Click the above link to get started.
See a Solicitor
If you are in one of the following groups of people, you should speak with a traditional solicitor face to face:
- If you have a high value estate (details here) or complex requirements;
- Where there is a worry due to medication or a dementia related illness we always suggest speaking with a solicitor face to face.
- If you would simply rather speak with a solicitor!
You can find a solicitor at the Law Society.
Click here to visit their website or call them on 0207 242 1222.
Make sure your solicitor uses our full details:
- Our name: BHT Sussex
- Our charity number: 284839
- Our registered address: BHT Sussex, 144 London Road, Brighton, BN1 4PH
Further information
Residuary Gift
You leave us part of or all of the remainder of your legacy after your estate has been settled.
Pecuniary Gift
You specify a set amount or percentage of your estate to be given to us.
Specific Bequest
You donate to us a specific item, such as furniture, jewellery, art work or even property.
When a will is made through Make a Will Online, we are told some information about this: when a will was made, the existence of any gifts and how much. Where you provide consent, we also learn your contact details so we can say thank you. We recognise some supporters want to keep this private. If you want to be completely anonymous so that we do not get to know a will has been made, you can do this by making a will using this link to make a will online. Whatever you choose to do – we would like to thank you for your generosity and support.
