Choir with No Name
The Choir with No Name runs choirs for people who are homeless or have experienced homelessness, as well as those who have experienced marginalisation. They’re a diverse bunch of folks; all genders, all ages - everyone is welcome.
They sing pop, rock, soul, gospel, reggae, musicals... you name it, they’ll give it a go. They have choirs in Birmingham, Liverpool and London and their latest was set up Brighton, in partnership with BHT Sussex. Each choir gets together to rehearse every week (with a decent dinner at the end of rehearsal!) and they perform regularly.
They were founded on the premise that singing makes you feel good; it distracts you from all the nonsense in life and helps you to build up your confidence and abilities.
The Brighton choir, run in partnership with BHT Sussex, opened in August 2018, and rehearse weekly on Monday evenings at 6.30pm.
The choir is led by the extraordinary talents of Choir Manager, Charlie, and Choir Director, Freya, who love nothing more than getting stuck in and making music with everyone!
If you have any questions about joining the choir, get in touch with Charlie - his details are below.
Thank you so much to everyone for being involved. Please spread the word, we are looking for new members to join in and have a great time. Please just turn up on the day if you would like to be involved, you do not need to be a good singer, it is just about having fun.
