Volunteers’ Week celebrated across BHT Sussex

Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering in their communities. It is run by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and takes place annually in the first week of June.

BHT Sussex volunteers worked 2,252 hours of their time in the year 2023/2024, demonstrating how essential volunteers are to the delivery of many of our projects.

Celebrations of this achievement included a reception in Burgess Hill, hosted by Mayor Janice Henwood. Our Chief Executive, David Chaffey, was also in attendance, and presented volunteers from Archway and Pathfinder with certificates, thanking them for their contribution.

We also marked Volunteers’ Week by sharing the work some of our volunteers have carried out in the past year on our social media, such as the transformation of Step Down’s gardens as assisted by volunteer, Sue. You can read the full story about Sue’s contribution here.

Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to hear even more about BHT Sussex’s volunteers.

If you have been inspired by Volunteers’ Week, we are looking for volunteer cooks to help out at First Base Day Centre by preparing hot meals for people experiencing homelessness. To apply and find out more, email Guy Hayes (guy.hayes@bht.org.uk).
