Clients in our Addiction Services were recently surprised with a visit from Norman Cook, AKA Fatboy Slim.
Norman gave a talk to the clients about his own journey of recovery and how this has impacted his life and work. He also held a Q&A session, took photos with clients and had an informal chat to everyone.
Staff noted how accommodating and humble he was throughout the session.
The clients found the visit motivating, engaging and meaningful, offering the following feedback:
I’ve got big respect for him coming over and talking to us, especially as he’s that famous and must be so busy.”
Inspirational talk from Norman cook. It was inspiring to hear that we can go to live music events without having to drink and use drugs.”
Really great talk, can’t believe Fatboy Slim actually came to see us. He’s had all those stories about him in the press and still came here. It meant a lot to me.”
Fatboy Slim himself had this to say about his visit:
It was a rare pleasure to visit such a wonderful centre and hang out with my fellow addicts. Recovery is a continual process for all of us and it helps when we commune and communicate. I made some new friends.”
