You are warmly invited to join musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Choir with no Name Brighton for the world premiere of a brand-new song written especially for Brighton, in celebration of the Women’s EURO football tournament. The event will take place on Monday 11th July, 16:30-17:00 at Victoria Gardens, 12a Marlborough Pl, Brighton BN1 1WN. It is free to attend.
In July 2022, Brighton & Hove Community Stadium is one of ten stadiums in England hosting the Women’s European Football Championship tournament. In the lead up to the tournament, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) have been working with residents in each host stadium local authority to devise a brand new ‘anthem’ celebrating the local area, women’s football and the tournament itself.
During March and April 2022, an RPO team led by composer Sam Mason delivered eight workshops in Brighton & Hove, working with schools and community groups to devise a brand-new piece entitled ‘Dare to Dream’. One of the community groups involved was the Choir With No Name Brighton (CWNN Brighton), a choir for people who have experienced homelessness and marginalisation, run in partnership with BHT Sussex.
CWNN Brighton had already sent a team of ten to record the national Euros song along with 9 other choirs with the RPO at Cadogan Hall. You can watch the video of the national Euros song here.
This performance of the Brighton Anthem will form part of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 party for fans, ticket-holders and local residents.
